The Department of electronics has been founded in 1943 at the Technical faculty, and it was named "Department of High-Frequency Techniques." The first head of the Department was prof. dr. Mirko Soukup. The Department was located in three rooms in the Laboratories Building of the Technical Faculty in the Kačić street. In 1945 the Department was without staff and had no activities. Since 1946 the Department has got a new name -- "Department of Radiotechniques" and a new head prof. Vinko Albert, who started to teach Radiotechniques. In 1951 the name "Department of High-Frequency Techniques" is given back to the Department, and in 1963 the Department changed its name to "Department of electronics." In 1994 the Department extended its name to "Department of electronics, microelectronics, computer and intelligent systems."
